Chateau Troplong Mondot, Saint Emilion

Large estate producing Saint Emilion 1er Grand Cru Classé wine

featured in Vineyards & estates Updated

Located in the heart of the famous Saint Emilion appellation, this chateau has 33 hectares where Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon grape varieties grow.

The Mondot estate was created in the 18th century, belonging to one of the most prestigious noble families in the area, the Sèze. In 1850 Raymond-Théodore Troplong, president of the Senate during the 2nd Empire, purchased the plot. The current owners are the descendants of Alexandre Valette, who acquired the estate at the beginning of the 20th century.

They produce a Saint Emilion Premier Grand Cru Classé but they also have a second red wine, 'Mondot'.
